গুরুদেব!
বḓঅ ক্ড়্পা করিঽ, গৌḓঅবনমাঝে,
গোদ্রুমে দিয়াছ স্থান
আজ্ঞা দিলা মোরে, এই ব্রজে বসিঽ,
হরিনাম কর গান ১

baḓa kṛpā kari’, gauḓa-bana-mājhe,
godrume diyācha sthāna
ājñā dilā more, ei braje basi’,
harināma kara gāna 1
gurudeba — O Gurudev; baḓa — very; kṛpā kari’ — mercifully; gauḓa — Śrī Gauḓa-maṇḍala; bana — forest; mājhe — within; godrume — in Godruma; diyācha — you have given; sthāna — a place; ājñā dilā — you ordered; more — to me; ei — this; braje — in Vraja; basi’ — having resided; harināma — names of Śrī Hari; kara gāna — chant
O Gurudeva! You have very mercifully given me a place in Godruma within the forests of Śrī Gauḓa-maṇḍala. You have ordered me to dwell in this place which is [non-different from] Vraja and to chant the holy names of Śrī Hari.
কিন্তু কবে প্রভু, যোগ্যতা অর্পিবে,
এ দাসেরে দয়া করিঽ
চিত্ত স্থির হঽবে, সকল সহিব,
একান্তে ভজিব হরি ২
kintu kabe prabhu, yogyatā arpibe,
e dāsere dayā kari’
citta sthira ha’be, sakala sahiba,
ekānte bhajiba hari 2
kintu — but; kabe — when; prabhu — O Master; yogyatā — qualification; arpibe — you will bestow; e — this; dāsere — upon servant; dayā kari’ — mercifully; citta — mind; sthira — fixed, peaceful; ha’be — will become; sakala — all; sahiba — I will tolerate; ekānte — sincerely, one-pointedly, in a solitary place; bhajiba — I shall worship, serve; hari — Śrī Hari
But when, O Master, will you mercifully bestow upon this servant the qualification [to fulfill your order]? At that time, my mind will be peaceful, I shall tolerate all that happens, and I shall earnestly perform bhajana of Śrī Hari.
শৈশবেয়ৌবনে, জḓঅসুখসঙ্গে,
অভ্যাস হইল মন্দ
নিজ কর্মদোষে, এ দেহ হইল,
ভজনের প্রতিবন্ধ ৩
śaiśabe-yaubane, jaḓasukha-saṅge,
abhyāsa ha·ila manda
nija karmadoṣe, e deha ha·ila,
bhajanera pratibandha 3
śaiśabe yaubane — in childhood and youth; jaḓasukha — mundane + pleasures; saṅge — contact with; abhyāsa — habits; ha·ila — became; manda — bad, low, wicked; nija — my own; karmadoṣe — actions + due to the fault; e — this; deha — body; ha·ila — became; bhajanera — of bhajana; pratibandha — an impediment
Because I indulged in mundane pleasures during my childhood and youth, my habits have become unfavorable [to bhakti]. Due to the reactions of my own misdeeds, this body has become an impediment to performing bhajana.
বার্ধক্যে এখন, পঞ্চরোগে হত,
কেমনে ভজিব বল
কান্দিয়া কান্দিয়া, তোমার চরণে,
পḓইয়াছি সুবিহ্বল ৪
bārdhakye ekhana, pañcaroge hata,
kemane bhajiba bala
kā̃diyā kā̃diyā, tomāra caraṇe,
paḓiyāchi subihbala 4
bārdhakye — in old age; ekhana — now; pañcaroge — five [senses or miseries] + by diseases; hata — attacked; kemane — how; bhajiba — I will worship; bala — tell (imperative); kā̃diyā kā̃diyā — weeping and weeping; tomāra — your; caraṇe — at feet; paḓiyāchi — I have fallen; subihbala — greatly overwhelmed
Now, in old age, I have become afflicted with the diseases of the five senses. Please tell me how I can do bhajana [in this condition]. Weeping and weeping, I have fallen at your lotus feet, greatly overwhelmed.
