কবে আহা গৌরাঙ্গ বলিয়া
ভোজনশয়নে, দেহের যতন,
ছাḓইব বিরক্ত হয়া ১

chāḓiba birakta hayā 1
kabe — when; āhā gaurāṅga — “hā Gaurāṅga”; baliyā — having uttered; bhojana — eating; śayane — in sleeping; dehera — of the body; yatana — endeavors; chāḓiba — I will relinquish; birakta hayā — having become detached, disinterested or disgusted
When, as I cry “Gaurāṅga!” will I relinquish eating, sleeping, and other such bodily endeavors, being completely detached from them?
নবদ্বীপধামে, নগরে নগরে,
অভিমান পরিহরিঽ
ধামবাসীঘরে, মাধুকরী লঽব,
খাইব উদর ভরিঽ ২
nabadbīpa-dhāme, nagare nagare,
abhimāna parihari’
dhāmabāsī-ghare, mādhukarī la’ba,
khāiba udara bhari’ 2
nabadbīpa dhāme — in Śrī Navadvīpa-dhāma; nagare nagare — from town to town; abhimāna — false ego; parihari’ — having abandoned; dhāmabāsī — the residents of the holy abode; ghare — at the house; mādhukarī — foodstuffs begged from home to home by a renunciant, in the manner that a honey bee (madhukar) gathers honey by going from flower to flower*; la’ba — I will take; khāiba — I will eat; udara — the belly; bhari’ — having filled
At that time, having abandoned my false ego, I shall wander from town to town in Śrī Navadvīpa-dhāma, performing mādhukarī at the homes of the dhāma-vāsīs, and thus eat to the full satisfaction of my belly.
নদীতটে গিয়া, অঞ্জলি অঞ্জলি,
পিব প্রভুপদজল
তরুতলে পḓইঽ, আলস্য ত্যজিব,
পাইব শরীরে বল ৩
nadītaṭe giyā, añjali añjali,
piba prabhu-padajala
tarutale paḓi’, ālasya tyajiba,
pāiba śarīre bala 3
nadītaṭe — river + to the bank; giyā — having gone; añjali añjali — palmful by palmful; piba — I shall drink; prabhu — the Lord; padajala — foot + water; tarutale — tree + at the base; paḓi’ — having lied down; ālasya — fatigue; tyajiba — I shall give up; pāiba — I shall get; śarīre — to body; bala — strength
Going to the bank of Gaṅgā, I shall drink, palmful by palmful, the sacred water that has washed the lotus feet of the Lord. Lying under the shade of a tree, I shall relieve my fatigue and restore strength to my body.
কাকুতি করিয়া, ‘গৌরগদাধরঽ,
‘শ্রীরাধামাধবঽনাম
কান্দিয়া কান্দিয়া, ডাকিঽ উচ্চরবে,
ভ্রমিব সকল ধাম ৪
kākuti kariyā, ‘gaura-gadādhara’,
‘śrīrādhāmādhaba’-nāma
kā̃diyā kā̃diyā, ḍāki’ uccarabe,
bhramiba sakala dhāma 4
kākuti — entreaty; kariyā — having made; gaura gadādhara’ — “Gaura-Gadādhara”; śrīrādhāmādhaba’ — “Śrī Rādhā-Mādhava; nāma — the names; kā̃diyā kā̃diyā — having cried and cried; ḍāki’ — having called; uccarabe — loudly; bhramiba — I shall wonder; sakala — entire; dhāma — holy abode
Loudly calling out, “Gaura-Gadādhara!” “Śrī Radhā-Mādhava!” in entreaty, and bitterly weeping, I shall wander throughout the entire dhāma.
বৈষ্ণব দেখিয়া, পḓইব চরণে,
হ্ড়্দয়ের বন্ধু জানিঽ
বৈষ্ণব ঠাকুর, ‘প্রভুর কীর্তনঽ,
দেখাইবে দাস মানিঽ ৫
baiṣṇaba dekhiyā, paḓiba caraṇe,
hṛdayera bandhu jāni’
baiṣṇaba ṭhākura, ‘prabhura kīrtana’,
dekhāibe dāsa māni’ 5
baiṣṇaba — a Vaiṣṇava; dekhiyā — having seen; paḓiba — I shall fall; caraṇe — at feet; hṛdayera — of the heart; bandhu — the friend; jāni’ — having known; baiṣṇaba ṭhākura — the venerable Vaiṣṇava; prabhura — of the Lord; kīrtana’ — the chanting; dekhāibe — he will show; dāsa — servant; māni’ — having accepted
Seeing a Vaiṣṇava, I shall fall at his lotus feet, knowing him to be the true friend of my heart. Accepting me as his servant, that venerable Vaiṣṇava will cause me to behold the kīrtana performances of Mahāprabhu.
