গোরা পংহু না ভজিয়া মৈনু

প্রেমরতনধন হেলায় হারাইনু ১

By not worshiping my Lord Gaurasundara, I have invited death; and by neglecting the precious jewel of prema, I have lost it.

অধনে যতন করিঽ ধন তেয়াগিনু

আপন করমদোষে আপনি ডুবিনু ২

adhane yatana kari’ dhana teyāginu

āpana karama-doṣe āpani ḍubinu 2

adhanefor worthless things; yatana kari’having endeavored; dhanawealth; teyāginuI have given up; āpanamy own; karamaactivities; doṣedue to fault; āpanimyself; ḍubinuI have drowned

Attending to worthless trifles, I have thrown away my real wealth. I have drowned myself in my misdeeds.

সৎসঙ্গ ছাḓইঽ কৈনু অসতে বিলাস

তেকারণে লাগিল যে কর্মবন্ধফাংস ৩

satsaṅga chāḓi’ kainu asate bilāsa

te-kāraṇe lāgila ye karmabandha-phā̃sa 3

satsaṅgadevotee association; chāḓi’having forsaked; kainuI have done; asatewith non-devotees; bilāsasporting; te kāraṇefor that reason; lāgilahas been tied; yethose (my); karmabandhaactions + bondage; phā̃saa noose

Forsaking the association of devotees, I have sported with non-devotees. For this reason, I am being hung by the noose of my own actions.

বিষয় বিষম বিষ সতত খাইনু

গৌরকীর্তনরসে মগন না হৈনু ৪

biṣaya biṣama biṣa satata khāinu

I have constantly drunk the deadly poison of material sense enjoyment, and thus I have not become absorbed in the nectarean mellows (rasa) of gaura-kīrtana.

কেন বা আছয়ে প্রাণ কি সুখ পাইয়া

নরোত্তমদাস কেন না গেল মরিয়া ৫
