হরি হরি! ক্ড়্পা করিঽ রাখ নিজ পদে
কামক্রোধ ছয় জনে, লয়া ফিরে নানাস্থানে,
বিষয়ভুঞ্জায় নানামতে ১
hari hari! kṛpā kari’ rākha nija pade
kāma-krodha chaya jane, layā phire nānāsthāne,
biṣaya-bhuñjāya nānāmate 1
hari hari — O Hari; kṛpā kari’ — mercifully; rākha — keep; nija — Your; pade — at feet; kāma — lust; krodha — anger; chaya — six; jane — by men; layā — having taken; phire — around; nānāsthāne — various + to places; biṣaya — sense gratification; bhuñjāya — suffer, undergo; nānāmate — various + in ways
O Śrī Hari, be merciful and keep me at Your lotus feet. Six adversaries, headed by lust and anger, are dragging me to various places and causing me to gratify my senses in various ways.
হইয়া মায়ার দাস, করিঽ নানা অভিলাষ,
তোমার স্মরণ গেল দূরে
অর্থলাভ এই আশে, কপট বৈষ্ণববেশে,
ভ্রমিয়া বুলয়ে ঘরে ঘরে ২

tomāra smaraṇa gela dūre
arthalābha ei āśe, kapaṭa baiṣṇaba-beśe,
bhramiyā bulaye ghare ghare 2
ha·iyā — having become; māyāra — Māyā’s; dāsa — servant; kari’ — having had; nānā — various; abhilāṣa — desires; tomāra — Your; smaraṇa — remembrance; gela — gone; dūre — far away; arthalābha — wealth + gaining; ei — this; āśe — with desire; kapaṭa — disguised; baiṣṇaba — Vaiṣṇava; beśe — in the dress; bhramiyā — having wondered; bulaye — here and there; ghare ghare — from house to house
I have become a servant of māyā and have various material desires. Thus my remembrance of You has fled far away. Disguised as a Vaiṣṇava, I wander from house to house with the desire to collect money.
অনেক দুঃখের পরে, লয়েছিলে ব্রজপুরে,
ক্ড়্পাডোর গলায় বান্ধিয়া
দৈবমায়া বলাৎকারে, খসাইয়া সেই ডোরে,
ভবকূপে দিলেক ডারিয়া ৩
aneka duḥkhera pare, layechile brajapure,
kṛpāḍora galāya bāndhiyā
daibamāyā balātkāre, khasāiyā sei ḍore,
bhabakūpe dileka ḍāriyā 3
aneka — many; duḥkhera — miseries; pare — after; layechile — You have brought; brajapure — to the abode of Vraja; kṛpāḍora — of mercy + the rope; galāya — on neck; bāndhiyā — binding; daibamāyā — the transcendental illusory potency (see Bg. 7.14); balātkāre — forcibly; khasāiyā — having untied; sei — that; ḍore — rope; bhabakūpe — material existence + into the well; dileka ḍāriyā — having thrown
After I suffered many miseries, You tied Your rope of mercy around my neck and brought me to Vraja. But then māyā forcibly untied that rope and threw me into the well of material existence.
পুনঃ যদি ক্ড়্পা করিঽ, এ জনার কেশে ধরিঽ,
টানিয়া তুলহ ব্রজধামে
তবে সে দেখিয়ে ভাল, নতুবা পরাণ গেল,
কহে দীন দাস নরোত্তমে ৪
punaḥ yadi kṛpā kari’, e janāra keśe dhari’,
ṭāniyā tulaha brajadhāme
tabe se dekhiye bhāla, natubā parāṇa gela,
kahe dīna dāsa narottame 4
punaḥ — again; yadi — if; kṛpā kari’ — mercifully; e — this; janāra — person’s; keśe — by hair; dhari’ — having grasped; ṭāniyā tulaha — lift up; brajadhāme — to the abode of Vraja; tabe — then; se — he; dekhiye — sees; bhāla — good; natubā — otherwise; parāṇa — life; gela — gone; kahe — says; dīna — the wrected; dāsa narottame — Narottama dāsa
If you mercifully grasp this person’s hair and pull him to the abode of Vraja once again, then he will be saved; otherwise, his life will end. Thus prays the wretched Narottama dāsa.
