Out of compassion for the living beings, Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu descended in this world along with His personal associates and divine abode.
অত্যন্ত দুর্ল্লভ প্রেম করিবারে দান
শিখায় শরণাগতি ভকতের প্রাণ ২
atyanta durllabha prema karibāre dāna
śikhāya śaraṇāgati bhakatera prāṇa 2
atyanta — extremely; durllabha — rare; prema — pure love; karibāre dāna — in order to bestow; śikhāya — He taught; śaraṇāgati — surrender; bhakatera — the devotee’s; prāṇa — life, soul
In order to bestow the extremely rare treasure of prema-bhakti, He taught śaraṇāgati, which is the life and soul of the devotees.
দৈন্য, আত্মনিবেদন, গোপ্ত্ড়্ত্বে বরণ
‘অবশ্য রক্ষিবে ক্ড়্ষ্ণঽ—বিশ্বাসপালন ৩
dainya, ātmanibedana, goptṛtbe baraṇa
‘abaśya rakṣibe kṛṣṇa’—biśbāsa-pālana 3

…acceptance of acts favorable for bhakti and rejection of that which is unfavorable.
ষḓঅঙ্গ শরণাগতি হইবে যাংহার
তাংহার প্রার্থনা শুনে শ্রীনন্দকুমার ৫
ṣaḓaṅga śaraṇāgati ha·ibe yā̃hāra
tā̃hāra prārthanā śune śrīnandakumāra 5
ṣaḓaṅga śaraṇāgati — the six facets of śaraṇāgati; ha·ibe — will embody; yā̃hāra — one who; tā̃hāra — their; prārthanā — prayers; śune — he hears; śrīnandakumāra — the son of Nanda Mahārāja
Whoever embodies each of these six facets of śaraṇāgati has their prayers heard by the son of Nanda Mahārāja.
রূপসনাতনপদে দন্তে ৎড়্ণ করিঽ
ভকতিবিনোদ পḓএ দুহুং পদ ধরিঽ ৬
rūpa-sanātana-pade dante tṛṇa kari’
bhakatibinoda paḓe duhũ pada dhari’ 6
rūpa sanātana pade — at the feet of Śrī Rūpa and Śrī Sanātana; dante — in teeth; tṛṇa kari’ — taking a straw; bhakatibinoda — Bhaktivinoda; paḓe — falls; duhũ — both; pada — feet; dhari’ — holding
With a straw between his teeth, Bhaktivinoda prostrates before Śrī Rūpa and Śrī Sanātana, embracing their lotus feet.
কান্দিয়া কান্দিয়া বলে—‘আমি তঽ অধম
শিখায়ে শরণাগতি কর হে উত্তম ৭”
kā̃diyā kā̃diyā bale—‘āmi ta’ adhama
śikhāye śaraṇāgati kara he uttama 7”
kā̃diyā kā̃diyā — weeping; bale — he says; āmi ta’ adhama — I am indeed fallen; śikhāye śaraṇāgati — teaching me śaraṇāgati; kara — make; he — oh; uttama — excellent
Weeping, he says, “I am the lowest of men! Kindly teach me unconditional surrender and make me an excellent Vaiṣṇava.”
