ক্ড়্পা কর বৈষ্ণব ঠাকুর !
সম্বন্ধ জানিয়া, ভজিতে ভজিতে,
অভিমান হউ দূর ১
kṛpā kara baiṣṇaba ṭhākura !
sambandha jāniyā, bhajite bhajite,
abhimāna ha·u dūra 1
kṛpā — mercy; kara — bestow; baiṣṇaba ṭhākura — O Vaiṣṇava Ṭhākura; sambandha — relationship; jāniyā — having made know, understand, realize; bhajite bhajite — continuously serving, worshiping; abhimāna — false ego; ha·u — may be; dūra — far away
Please bestow your mercy, O Vaiṣṇava Ṭhākura; by knowing my relationship with Śrī Kṛṣṇa and constantly engaging in bhajana, my false ego will thus be dispelled.
‘আমি তঽ বৈষ্ণবঽ, এ বুদ্ধি হইলে,
অমানী না হঽব আমি
প্রতিষ্ঠাশা আসিঽ, হ্ড়্দয় দূষিবে,
হইব নিরয়গামী ২
‘āmi ta’ baiṣṇaba’, e buddhi ha·ile,
amānī nā ha’ba āmi
pratiṣṭhāśā āsi’, hṛdaya dūṣibe,
ha·iba nirayagāmī 2
āmi — I; ta’ — indeed; baiṣṇaba’ — Vaiṣṇava; e — this; buddhi — conception; ha·ile — if there is; amānī — free from desire for prestige; nā — not; ha’ba — will become; āmi — I; pratiṣṭhāśā — prestige + desire; āsi’ — having come; hṛdaya — heart; dūṣibe — will be polluted; ha·iba — I shall; nirayagāmī — hell + go towards
If I develop the idea that ‘I am a Vaiṣṇava,’ then I will never become humble. My heart will become contaminated with the desire to receive honor from others, and I shall go to hell.
তোমার কিঙ্কর, আপনে জানিব,
‘গুরুঽঅভিমান ত্যজিঽ
তোমার উচ্ছিষ্ট, পদজলরেণু,
সদা নিষ্কপটে ভজি ৩
tomāra kiṅkara, āpane jāniba,
‘guru’-abhimāna tyaji’
tomāra ucchiṣṭa, pada-jala-reṇu,
sadā niṣkapaṭe bhaji 3
tomāra — your; kiṅkara — servant; āpane — myself; jāniba — I will know; guru’ abhimāna — the pride of being “guru”; tyaji’ — having given up; tomāra — your; ucchiṣṭa — remnants; pada — foot; jala — water; reṇu — dust; sadā — always; niṣkapaṭe — sincerely; bhaji — I honor
I will know myself to be your servant, having given up the false conception of being guru. With sincerity, I shall always honor your remnants, the water that has washed your feet, and the dust of your feet.
‘নিজে শ্রেষ্ঠঽ জানি, উচ্ছিষ্টাদিদানে,
হঽবে অভিমানভার
তাই শিষ্য তব, থাকিয়া সর্বদা,
না লইব পূজা কার ৪
‘nije śreṣṭha’ jāni, ucchiṣṭādi-dāne,
ha’be abhimāna-bhāra
tāi śiṣya taba, thākiyā sarbadā,
nā la·iba pūjā kāra 4
nije — myself; śreṣṭha’ — the best; jāni — having known, perceived; ucchiṣṭādi — remnants + and so on; dāne — by giving; ha’be — will become; abhimāna — false pride; bhāra — heavy; tāi — thus; śiṣya — disciple; taba — your; thākiyā — remaining; sarbadā — forever; nā — not; la·iba — I will take; pūjā — worship; kāra — anyone
If I consider myself to be superior to all and give my remnants and so forth to others, the weight of my false pride will become very heavy. Thus, always remaining [in the mood of] your disciple, I will not accept worship from others.
অমানী মানদ, হইলে কীর্তনে,
অধিকার দিবে তুমি
তোমার চরণে, নিষ্কপটে আমি,
কান্দিয়া লুটিব ভূমি ৫
amānī mānada, ha·ile kīrtane,
adhikāra dibe tumi
tomāra caraṇe, niṣkapaṭe āmi,
kā̃diyā luṭiba bhūmi 5
amānī — without desire for self-honor; mānada — offering respect to others; ha·ile — if it happens; kīrtane — to chant; adhikāra — the qualification; dibe — will give; tumi — you; tomāra — your; caraṇe — at feet; niṣkapaṭe — without duplicity; āmi — I; kā̃diyā — having cried; luṭiba — I shall roll; bhūmi — on the ground
If I renounce the desire for honor for myself and instead offer respect to others, you will give me the qualification to perform kīrtana. Without duplicity, I shall cry and roll on the ground at your lotus feet.
