শ্রীক্ড়্ষ্ণকীর্তনে যদি মানস তোহার
পরম যতনে তংহি লভ অধিকার ১

parama yatane tãhi labha adhikāra 1
śrīkṛṣṇakīrtane — Śrī Kṛṣṇa + to do chanting; yadi — if; mānasa — mind; tohāra — your (you have); parama — most; yatane — carefully, diligently, zealously endeavoring; tãhi — in that; labha — obtain, earn, acquire; adhikāra — qualification. NOTE: In Bengali, people often give commands using the future tense. So you should understand ‘you will consider’ in the word-for-word below to mean ‘consider’, ‘you will nurture and support’ to mean ‘nurture support’ etc
If you wish to engage your mind in the performance of śrī kṛṣṇa-kīrtana, then you must very carefully earn [the required] spiritual qualification.
ৎড়্ণাধিক হীন দীন অকিঞ্চন ছার
আপনে মানবি সদা ছাḓইঽ অহঙ্কার ২
tṛṇādhika hīna dīna akiñcana chāra
āpane mānabi sadā chāḓi’ ahaṅkāra 2
tṛṇādhika — blade of grass + more than; hīna — lowly; dīna — humble; akiñcana — insignificant; chāra — contemptible, worthless; āpane — yourself; mānabi — you will consider; sadā — always; chāḓi’ — having relinquished; ahaṅkāra — self-conceit, vanity, pride, haughtiness, arrogance
Relinquishing your false pride, always consider yourself more lowly and insignificant than a blade of grass, destitute, and worthless.
ব্ড়্ক্ষসম ক্ষমা গুণ করবি সাধন
প্রতিহিংসা ত্যজিঽ অন্যে করবি পালন ৩
bṛkṣasama kṣamā guṇa karabi sādhana
pratihiṁsā tyaji’ anye karabi pālana 3
bṛkṣasama — tree + equal, resembling, same; kṣamā — forgiveness, forbearance, tolerance; guṇa — quality; karabi sādhana — you will endeavor, practice; pratihiṁsā — revenge, retaliation; tyaji’ — having forsaken; anye — to others; karabi pālana — you will nurture, support
Cultivate forbearance like that of a tree. Forsaking retaliation, nurture and support others.
জীবননির্বাহে আনে উদ্বেগ না দিবে
পরৌপকারে নিজসুখ পাসরিবে ৪
jībana-nirbāhe āne udbega nā dibe
para-upakāre nija-sukha pāsaribe 4
jībana — life; nirbāhe — in the act of passing, spending or leading; āne — to others; udbega — anxiety; nā — not; dibe — you will give; para — others; upakāre — for the benefit, good, help; nija — own; sukha — happiness; pāsaribe — you will forget
In the course of leading your life, do not give anxiety to anyone else. For the benefit of others, forget your own comforts.
হইলেও সর্বগুণে গুণী মহাশয়
প্রতিষ্ঠাশা ছাḓইঽ কর অমানী হ্ড়্দয় ৫
ha·ileo sarbaguṇe guṇī mahāśaya
pratiṣṭhāśā chāḓi’ kara amānī hṛdaya 5
ha·ileo — if you are + even; sarbaguṇe — all + with qualities; guṇī — having good qualities or merits; mahāśaya — great soul; pratiṣṭhāśā — fame, reputation + desire; chāḓi’ — having relinquished; kara — make; amānī — not desiring respect; hṛdaya — heart
Even if you are a great soul endowed with all good qualities, relinquish the desire for honor and make your heart humble.
ক্ড়্ষ্ণঅধিষ্ঠান সর্ব জীবে জানিঽ সদা
করবি সম্মান সবে আদরে সর্বদা ৬
kṛṣṇa-adhiṣṭhāna sarba jībe jāni’ sadā
karabi sammāna sabe ādare sarbadā 6
kṛṣṇa — Kṛṣṇa; adhiṣṭhāna — dwelling, existing, present; sarba — all; jībe — in living beings; jāni’ — having known; sadā — always; karabi sammāna — you will honor, respect; sabe — to all; ādare — with affection; sarbadā — in all times
Knowing Śrī Kṛṣṇa to be situated within all living beings, always respect and show affection to all.
দৈন্য, দয়া, অন্যে মান, প্রতিষ্ঠা বর্জন
চারিগুণে গুণী হইঽ, করহ কীর্তন ৭
dainya, dayā, anye māna, pratiṣṭhā barjana
cāriguṇe guṇī ha·i’, karaha kīrtana 7
dainya — humility; dayā — compassion; anye — others; māna — respect; pratiṣṭhā — fame, prestige; barjana — giving up, abandonment; cāriguṇe — four + with qualities; guṇī — endowed with good qualities; ha·i’ — having become; karaha — perform; kīrtana — chanting
Endowed with the four qualities of humility, compassion, respect, and modesty, perform kīrtana of the Lord.
ভকতিবিনোদ কান্দিঽ বলে প্রভু পায়
হেন অধিকার কবে দিবে হে আমায় ৮
bhakatibinoda kā̃di’ bale prabhu pāya
hena adhikāra kabe dibe he āmāya 8
bhakatibinoda — Bhaktivinoda; kā̃di’ — having wept; bale — says; prabhu — Lord; pāya — feet; hena — such; adhikāra — qualification; kabe — when; dibe — You will give; he — oh; āmāya — to me
Bhaktivinoda, weeping at the feet of the Lord, asks, “Oh, when will You give me such qualification?”
